How to Have Safe Underwater Sex

“I was wondering… what effects does chlorine have on a condom?? Does it cause it to be ineffective, and what about the safety of having sex in water in general for both me and my girl?” (Andrew, 23)

Ms. Zombie says:
Alright I use to think that sex in water is bad, however, it seems that the theory is changing.

Having sex underwater can be fun or painful depending on the individual person, but if you do have a condom on please be careful that it does not fall off.

One way that you can help prevent this from happening is have one of your fingers on the bottom of it to make sure it does not slide off.

Chlorine and other chemicals used in pools have no health risk and will not break down a condom, however if you use suntan oil that will, so don’t get any of it on the condom. And it is safe for both you and her if you have sex in water whether it is in the pool, beach, or bath tub.

Btw please don’t think that salt water will kill STD’s because it is an antiseptic. This is wrong and it will not help stop the spread of an STD so please fuck safely.

Lady Love says:
Shit I don’t know.. just kidding.

Recently a friend was joking around about a threesome he had when he was younger. When I asked if they used protection he laughed and said “it was in a pool, chlorine kills everything!”

….Yeah, not so much.

It is a HUGE myth that chlorine kills STD’s and other viruses, as well as decreases the chance of getting pregnant. For more info check out this link: Water Sex and Infections, Sexually Transmitted Diseases, and Health Risks

Additionally, having sex in the water could also increase the likelihood of a woman getting a urinary tract infection or bladder infection!

Another problem… there are no 100% effective birth control methods for water sex (besides birth control)! I suppose condoms are our only option at this point, better to use one then not, but they may be somewhat risky to use during underwater sex.

To take from my source here, “they can possibly rupture from decreased lubrication and possibly deteriorate from heat, chlorine, or oil-based substances in the water (i.e., tanning lotion, sun screen, bubble bath, etc). Plus, there is the added threat that the condom can slip off if water gets into it, and a man may be unaware of this happening.”

Ms.Zombie gave good advice to hold on to it to ensure this doesn’t happen.

I found this bit of info online about it:
“Condoms must go through a series of tests before they can be sold, mainly to ensure that they are durable. That being said, condoms are not tested for strength against the wet conditions, heat, or chemicals found in pools and hot tubs. Leading condom manufacturers confirm that there has not been any research conducted on how effective condoms are when used in water. Condom manufacturers have placed warnings on their boxes cautioning that those who do not use condoms in a more customary way (any action other than typical vaginal sex in a non-water location), could compromise the effectiveness of a condom.

Information on the Durex condom brand website, says “as far as we are aware, no research has been carried out into the performance of condoms when they are used underwater. It is possible that the risk of slippage, for example, might increase when used in such circumstances. Whilst salt in seawater would not have adverse effects on condom materials there is a strong possibility that the chemicals used in swimming pools (chlorine and ozone, for example) would.”

Hope this helped, be safe!

Madam Cougalicious says:

For God sakes Andrew, make sure the water is safe and I do not mean sharks. Remember that a female’s sex organs are on the inside. Therefore prone to infection if not cautious. Stick to private pools and stay away from public ones. Oh yeah, don’t forget to hold onto your raincoat because wet on wet makes for a slippery situation.
